Affordable Language Services was founded on volunteerism, a sense of community and desire to equalize all parties. Our directors, Lynn and Gary Elfers, are now fluent in Spanish, but when they moved to Costa Rica 17 years ago to complete volunteer work, they overcame cultural and lingual barriers during their years living there. Lynn and Gary translated this accomplishment into a full service business providing interpretation, translation, transcription, marketing materials and support and education/training for organizations nationwide.
Affordable Language Services’ dedication to bettering the field was instrumental in bringing a nationally renowned training program to Cincinnati for independent interpreters called Bridging the Gap. Since 2004, the program has improved the interpretation quality in the region with the graduation of more than 300 professionals.
